International Tourist Tariff

Even though the potiential for tourism development is enormous, Bhutan has chosen to ignore the global pace, placing happiness of the people before outright material gain. A policy epitomised by “High Value Low Volume” tourism, which is sustainable and sensitivie to preservation of its heritage in a rapidly changing world.

In view of the above, the Royal Government of Bhutan has set the daily minimum high season price of US $ 200 per person per day for visits to Bhutan and it remains same for all the tour operators in the Kingdom. The price in a way limits the volume of visitors allowing exclusivity and care.

The daily minimum price is most often misinterpreted to be extremly high. The fee in fact covers a package that include all internal taxes and charges including royalty, accomodation, all meals, services of licensed guides, internal transport, entrance fee for museums and monuments, mineral water, camping equiptment and haulage for trekking tours.

The minimum tariff for tourists visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follows:

High Season tariff   :   US$ 200 per person per night halt
( January, February,March, April, May, August, September, October, November & December)

Low Season tariff    :   US$165  per person per night
( June & July )

The minimum daily package rates are inclusive of the following services:

    1. 35 % Royalty Fee to the government
    2. 2% Government Tax
    3. Contribution to Tourism Development Fund (TDF)
    4. Hotel accommodation on twin sharing basis
    5. Services of an Licenced guide
    6. All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Tea/Snacks and Dinner)
    7. Transport within Bhutan in comfortable vehicle.
    8. Trekking equipments
    9. Riding Ponies and Pack animals on Trek
    10. Mineral waters  & Entrance fee to all monuments & museums

Tariffs for Individuals And Small Groups (FIT) Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharges over and above the minimum daily rates applicable, as follows:
